Last night I watched the British award-winning documentary: “Chosen” of Brian Woods on television.
It is the brave, extraordinary account of three men in their forties about their abuse during stay at a public school in England.

Tom Perry, Alastair Rolfe and Mark Payge, explain in incredible clarity how they were selected, groomed and abused by their teachers. I heard them ‘translate’ many of the emotions, effects and experiences that I personally suffered, but was never able to formulate in words…

An absolute recommendation for all survivors, their partners and family, therapists and anyone interested to understand the impact that sexual abuse has on the lives of children.
Visit the dedicated website and watch the full documentary on-line: http://www.chosen.org.uk/

This is what Tom Perry, a man in his forties, has to say about what happened when he was eleven and alone with his teacher:

“When I went into that room, I crossed a line that was invisible, and once you have crossed that line … and you have got into that bed, everything in terms of self-worth, self-respect goes down the pan. That is it.”

The words have an impact by themselves, but to fully appreciate their import, it helps to see the speaker’s face.
